When we met I was starting a new role within the company group I was already working in. I was struggling to define what I actually wanted career-wise and was also missing an outside sounding board for discussing career related topics. I also felt a lack of female perspective working in a male dominated company. I was expecting a discussion partner and also to have my perspectives and ideas challenged in a constructive way. I also expected to hear about your experiences regarding different topics.
What has crystallized for me after our sessions: 1. My ideal workplace. 2. Evaluating opportunities from if it's a good fit for both me and the other party (e.g. company/project). 3. I have a tendency to overanalyze. 4. What role I should take in different projects/situations. Biggest change: I now think more about playing to my strengths instead of worrying about what I don’t know. I also try to think more about “What is the best thing that can happen?”, “How can I contribute?” and “What is in it for me?” instead of overanalyzing about potential risks and worse case scenarios.
Three words that would describe our sessions are - structured, insightful and nice. A big thank you Anna for sharing your time, experiences and frameworks!
